At the NRC laboratory, the development of 3D digitizing and modeling technologies has been underway since 1981. The shape (X,Y,Z) and color (B&W or RGB) of objects, people and environments is digitized by patented laser-based 3-D cameras at a speed from 10,000 to 10 millions coordinates per second. A variety of prototypes have been built for the demonstration of the technology in the fields of industrial automation, inspection, space robotics and medicine.
